CVVH-Internal Medicine

Internal medicine is the veterinary specialty concerned with the diagnosis, management, and nonsurgical treatment of unusual or serious diseases in companion animals. At Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital, our ability to effectively diagnose and treat your pet results from talented veterinarians working with the best possible medical technology.

Diagnosis & Treatment of Pet Diseases

The experience and ability of our veterinarians, and their commitment to learning new treatments, allows us to keep pace with the latest medical advances. Each pet’s problem is evaluated individually and thoroughly. We formulate a plan with your input that will enable us to reach a diagnosis, and then develop an appropriate treatment plan for your pet.

Our veterinarians are trained to diagnose and treat internal medicine cases involving disorders that affect the following systems:

  • Endocrine
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Hematologic (spleen and blood)
  • Liver
  • Respiratory
  • Urinary

Some of the diagnostic tools our veterinarians use to diagnose these disorders include digital X-rays, flexible and rigid endoscopes, and veterinary ultrasound.

To diagnose these internal medicine cases, we may perform various procedures including:

  • Biopsies
  • Bone marrow aspirates
  • Critical care management
  • Feeding tube placement
  • Fine needle aspirates and cytology
  • Ultrasound aspirates and biopsies

Our large practice offers the expertise of a team of veterinarians, and multiple doctors experienced in the patient’s specific problem review every complex case. In addition, more than 50 years of treating a wide variety of companion animal diseases and conditions is a benefit to both our patients and their owners.
