Dr. Hughes received his BS in zoology in 1994 and his DVM from UC Davis in 1998. He also completed a surgical and internal medicine internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego in 1999.

Dr. Hughes has been at CVVH since completing his internship in 1999. 

They have a daughter, Hannah, and son, Shane. Their pets include 2 dogs, 5 cats, a lineolated parakeet and a California Desert Tortoise.

Dr. Hughes’ hobbies include family time, fishing, kayaking, and snowboarding. His professional interests are small and exotic animal internal medicine and surgery.
