Underwater Treadmill Rehabilitation
Underwater treadmill therapy provides a safe, low-impact way for pets to improve mobility, strength, and comfort while reducing stress on their joints during rehabilitation and conditioning.
Overview
The underwater treadmill is an excellent rehabilitation tool that allows pets to exercise while reducing stress and impact on their joints. The warm water and controlled environment can make movement more comfortable while providing gentle resistance to help improve strength, endurance, balance, and mobility.
When the water level reaches shoulder height, buoyancy can reduce the weight-bearing load on joints by approximately 60%. This decreased load allows pets to practice walking and controlled movement with less discomfort while still engaging their muscles.
The resistance of the water also provides an effective way to gradually build strength without placing excessive stress on healing tissues. Our rehabilitation team can adjust the water depth, treadmill speed, duration, and level of assistance to create an individualized exercise program based on each pet's condition and goals.
